During her time in the military, she rose to the rank of commander. Her company, Mermaid Factory, is her baby. Luria served in the Navy for 20 years before being elected to Congress in November. She is a 1997 graduate of the U.S.

Naval Academy and a former nuclear-trained surface warfare officer in the Navy. USS Anzio (CG-68) executive officer and commanding officer of Assault Craft Unit 2 were her final assignments.

Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District, which includes Naval Station Norfolk, is represented by Luria in Washington,

DC. Currently, she is a member of the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) and the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, where she serves as vice chair of the seapower and projection forces subcommittee.

First day in uniform, she was moved by the Naval Academy’s Mission, which emphasised leadership, citizenship, and government roles. It was during his 20-year career in the Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer and Nuclear Engineer that Luria saw action in the Middle East and the Western Pacific six times, twice while serving on ships stationed in Japan.

Assault Craft Unit TWO was under her command from 2014 to 2017, when she retired with the rank of Commander.

Jasper’s Reform Jewish community was founded by her great-grandfather, and the family eventually moved to Birmingham’s Temple Emanu-El, where Luria was nurtured.

Her mother, who served as president of the National Council of Jewish Women, as well as her grandmother, who was prominent in the Temple Emanu-El Sisterhood and the Birmingham Jewish Federation, all took an active role in these organisations.

The Indian Springs School in Birmingham, Alabama, graduated her in 1993. A few years later, Luria received a bachelor’s degree in physics and history from the United States Naval Academy.

It was in Goose Creek, South Carolina, when she attended the US Naval Nuclear Power School in 2000. On the flagship USS Blue Ridge in 2004, Luria earned a master’s degree from Old Dominion University in engineering management.

First, she served on the forward-deployed destroyer USS O’Brien in the Persian Gulf. There were 15 personnel under Luria who were in command of Tomahawk missiles.

After that, she was promoted to the position of Reactor Controls Division Officer on board the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, and she was sent back to the Middle East. In his subsequent role as a lieutenant, Luria served as the Seventh Fleet’s Flag Aide.

After that, she served on the destroyer USS Mason and the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, as well as the guided missile cruiser USS Anzio as an executive officer.
